Ms. Karen Carpenter

Welcome! Here is a bit about me.

I grew up in Washington state and attended the University of Oregon where I majored in journalism and minored in English. After deciding to follow in the footsteps of my parents to become an educator, I earned a Washington state secondary English teaching credential from Pacific Lutheran University. I then earned a secondary English credential in New York after moving back east. Life brought me to Livermore, and I now hold a Single Subject English credential as well as a Multiple Subjects credential. I earned a master’s of education in teacher leadership and have taught for LVJUSD since 2005. I absolutely love teaching; it is challenging, rewarding, and fun!

I have two daughters who are attending college: one at UCSC and one at UCLA. Grad school may be just around the corner! Though my daughters are at school, my house is still busy with four dogs (a Rottweiler, two Labradors, and Sheltie) and my significant other who is a pilot. I enjoy traveling, reading, learning, and coffee, which students will see me drinking just about every day.

I try to establish rapport and a safe, stimulating environment for students. I encourage all students to see me with questions or concerns. I am available in my classroom until 3:15 almost every day. Sending an email is also a great option.
