Teaching 8th Grade Core at Mendenhall is both a privilege and a pleasure! We explore US History, writing, and literature together, and I enjoy seeing the students grow. Their abilities to speak, defend a position, and look beneath the surface to examine implications always develop over the course of the year. The students enjoy this and so do I.
As a teacher, I continually work to increase my own content knowledge. I have been fortunate to attend summer seminars at Columbia University, UC Berkeley, and other campuses around the country to study Lincoln, the Civil War, American history, writing strategies, and general literacy.
