Teaching is literally my life in that it provides me with so much joy and a sense of accomplishment; I knew pretty early on I wanted to share my passion for social sciences with teens and have been doing so since 1989! I was born in Iowa and lived all over during my early childhood since my dad was in the military. We moved to the Bay Area when I was in 5th grade and I spent middle school and high school in Oakland, Ca. I graduated high school in 1984 and spent the next 4 years at the BEST place ever-U.C. Berkeley.

I loved college and studied political science. I graduated from Cal in 1988. Go Bears! I then attended San Francisco State University and got my single subject teaching credential in Social Science. I teach many courses at LHS including AP Psychology, U.S. History, Intro to Sociology and Positive Psychology. I just love spending my days with teens; their energy and enthusiasm always impresses me. 

Since 1995, my husband and I have lived in Livermore; we have raised both children here and my daughter, Julia, graduated from LHS in 2016 and works in Boston after attending UC Berkeley. She loved it here and excelled in academics and theater; I never tired of watching her on the  stage. My son, Wade, attends the University of Minnesota fall and studies sports management. I enjoy our community; walking in Sycamore Grove, practicing yoga at a studio downtown, or seeing an awesome film at The Vine are all local activities I love.
