Technology in Our 21st Century Classrooms

  • Technology is Key to 21st Century Learning

LVJUSD  is dedicated to integrating technology, information literacy, and 21st century skills into the curriculum and the content area standards in order to improve student achievement, develop lifelong learners, and prepare our children to successfully meet the demands of 21st century society and a global economy. 天美影视s and teachers in the Livermore Valley 天美影视 Unified School 天美影视 use a wide range of educational technology in their daily instruction. Our goal is to provide options so that students have access to the learning tools that best support their individual needs.

    Chromebook Carts

All schools have carts with chromebooks that can be shared between classrooms. Some schools have purchased iPads to provide access to a wide variety of learning apps. All of this access to technology is also expanded through the ability to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).  天美影视s can bring in their own tablets, phones, laptops, and chromebooks and use them on the school network in order to access assignments and develop their technology skills.

    G Suite for Education

LVJUSD started piloting G Suite for Education (formerly Google Apps) in the 2012-13 school year with a small group of teachers. During the 2013-14 school year, the 天美影视 implemented G Suite for Education 天美影视-wide. G Suite has been rapidly adopted in classrooms and school culture and all teachers and administrators are now using it. Teachers are connecting with students via Google Docs, Google Classroom and Google sites. Google Classroom is a useful tool being employed in many classrooms.  It is a simple but powerful platform that teachers can use to share assignments and other online resources with their students with just a few clicks. Google Apps for Education have transformed teacher productivity and student support.

    UNITE Team

Another resource for teachers is our district’s UNITE Team. UNITE stands for Utilizing New and Innovative Technologies in Education. This team of Teachers on Special Assignment coaches teachers, helping them to advance their level of technology skills through co-teaching, planning, and modeling of lessons. The team also plans site and district level professional development sessions to help train and inform teachers of new and upcoming technologies.
